Creative Block

Hi all. I realized that I should be writing about what's going on instead of just bitching about it. I am sitting at my desk trying to come up with some spring/summer designs for women. I should probably be clear that I am not a womenswear designer and would be more considered a stylist than someone that can come up with women's clothing on the spot. I can occasionally come up with a concept or an idea, but my lack of sketching ability is getting in the way. I can't draw people very well. I know I need to work on that. I rely on tracing paper to get me by, I admit it. I have an easier time with men's clothing but that's because, well, I WEAR MEN'S CLOTHING!! Haha. So I have so much I need to work on and no motivation to do it. I dread the thought of doing sketching exercises from a book but I think it's what I have to do. The other outlet I use is draping. Draping is creating an idea in 3D instead of from a pattern. This would be fine and all but right now I have a cute little dress idea draped in red plaid. Plaid really doesn't scream spring or summer in the slightest. Maybe I should head to the fabric store and take a look at the spring fabrics. I just feel so uninspired and blah! Ok, I have to finish this break and figure out what to do. More later..
